1. THOROUGH INSPECTION- our professionally trained technician will perform a visual inspection of the premises to ascertain that the problem is actually a Bed bug. Dark fecal spots, cast skins and smashed bed bugs are also signs of an infestation (We will not treat a location unless we have visual proof.
2. (There are similar insects and reasons why you may have bites on your body)
Sometimes the human inspection even if it is thorough, is not enough. We will then recommend that a dog be utilized to double check our findings.
3. Once the determination has been made that a bed bug condition does exist, we will ascertain how they came into your premises. Depending on if we are treating a business office or a person’s home there are certain arrangements that must be made prior to the actual treatment. Cooperation with the responsible parties is of paramount importance. Arrangements must be made to declutter, arrange for children and pets, and laundering.
4. Pest Maxx understands the needs of seniors or people with medical issues to be able to complete all the tasks that is required of them. Therefore, we are ready to assist by taking your laundry to be cleaned, or to help in the cleaning up of your apartment or office if it is beyond your capabilities.
Treatments for Bed Bug Elimination
After the prep requirements have been made we are now ready to service. The technician will thoroughly vacuum and steam in a crack and crevice application. Finally, he will apply a botanical chemical (Steri-fab) and Cross Fire which will provide continuous protection for weeks after the service is completed.
It is recommended that the mattresses be covered to prevent re-infestation.
The residents and staff are advised not to return until the chemical has completely dried (anywhere from 2-4 hours.).
Within 7 days another inspection is conducted to ascertain the effectiveness of the treatment. This is a human inspection only as a dog is not allowed to return until at least 30 days have passed. This is due to how low to the ground that they sniff.
If this inspection is negative it will be the responsibility of the tenant to continue to vacuum the premises and to avoid any areas that may have allowed the bed bug to enter in the first place.
It is important to have open conversations with staff, / relatives or neighbors if you suspect that they may be a possible cause of the problem.
If the inspection is still positive, the treatment steps must be conducted again until all the bed bugs have been Completely Eliminated.
Educating Residents and Staff
The administrators and facilities managers of homeless shelters, group homes, dormitories, apartment buildings, and other types of housing should seek to better educate residents and / or staff.
Controlling bed bugs is a difficult, and a time and money consuming activity. However, bed bugs can be eliminated with a coordinated effort that includes cooperation of the residents and landlord or property management. There is no single tool or activity that, used alone, will eliminate bed bugs, including pesticides. Multiple techniques are always required because bed bugs are small, good at hiding, and reportedly live without feeding for up to a year. In some cases, bed bugs are resistant to the pesticides used against them, meaning that many will survive treatment.
The reduction of household clutter is absolutely necessary for the elimination of bed bugs!
